I have always been a fan of Myrna Loy since I first saw her in my all time favorite film “The Best Years of Our Lives.”
She was a versatile actress who started out in the silent era, but proved herself as the “queen of Hollywood” in the 1930’s. She was Nora Charles to William Powell’s Nick Charles in the loved “The Thin Man” series. Trained as a dancer, Loy devoted herself fully to an acting career following a few minor roles in silent films.
She was originally typecast in exotic roles, often as a vamp or a woman of Asian descent, but her career prospects improved greatly following her portrayal of Nora Charles in The Thin Man (1934).
