Comments: For all you Olivier fans out there- I strongly recomend you read "confessions of an actor". In this book Olivier tells his own story- which might as well have been a best selling novel, he writes with both precision and discression, giving his story a sense of fantasy- but a chilling remind of the reality he faced. There is also a touching honesty to Larry's tale, in that in much of it he discredits himself- the troubles with Vivien for instance you may have expected him to blame her- no, 'I stood and prayed for forgiveness for all the evils that had sprung up between us…. It has always been impossible for me not to believe that I was somehow the cause of Vivien's disturbances.’ A story you will not forget.

I was only 2 when he died but i've re-discovered the legend and i'm sorry I could appreciate his talent.Love him forever!
(I have been nicknamed Lauren Olivier by my my school play cast).

I am so pleased that someone has created this site for all us Olvier fans to enjoy. I wasn't born when Olvier was wowing audiences with classical and modern texts, but I'd gladly transport myself back if it meant appearing with such a legend as Sir Laurence (Larry).

Comments: Great website and specially super pictures of the great man. I was lucky enough to meet him on the set of Granada Television's 'King Lear' in 1983. Sadly, by then his memory was going though he autographed a couple of books and some photographs for me. His film of Richard III has to be the best ever made and his stage performance as Othello was quite incredible.Keep up the good work in preserving this remarkable man for posterity.Keith

Comments: Wow! I am a relatively "new" fan of the stunningly beautiful, Sir Laurence Olivier. I first saw him as "Niccodemus" in Jesus of Nazareth, but I didnt really know who he was until my cousin showed me the light! I watched Rebecca and fell in LOVE! A few weeks later I saw Wuthering Heights and wept! (who couldnt?) Anyways, just wanted to say, this is an AWSOME sight, and there should definately be more tribute to Sir Laurence on the web!

Comments: Great site. I must commend you on your info in the "biography" section. I had a revelation from the one tidbit about laurence turning down the role of Humbert Humbert in Vladimir Nabakov's novel, Lolita. Excellent book- it remains my favourite novel. Maybe I am obsessed with that book, but now it's clear as to why I've read it 12 times: Laurence was supposed to be cast as Humbert in the 1962 version. wow.
