| The Best Years of Our Lives, directed by William Wyler, 1946 -
This is my all time favorite film. It tells the story of three soldiers
returning home from World War II. Perhaps what I like the most is
that its subject lets you see what it must have really been like
when GI's returned home after WWII. Normally, we don't get to glimpse
average people with average life struggles who face problems of adjusting
to life after such a war. The cinematography is superb and the directing
is flawless. William Wyler is definitely one of the best directors
ever and that may be why there are two other films he directed which
are on my list. |
