FILMOGRAPHY

Captain Blood, 1935

This was Olivia's fourth film. Although Captain Blood is always referred to as the film that made the career for Errol Flynn, it is also the film that made a star of Olivia. Not only did she earn great success from the popularity of this film, it started a teaming of the two that was to go on for eight more films.

At first Olivia was fascinated by the handsome and dashing Errol Flynn, but he was married at the time to a very jealous wife and an affair was out of the question. Although her interest in Flynn waned in subsequent films, her attraction to him is very evident here.

She played the part of Arabella Bishop, the niece of a Jamaican plantation owner who more then makes a match for Flynn's rebellious Peter Blood.

The cast includes:

Errol Flynn .... Peter Blood
Olivia de Havilland .... Arabella Bishop
Lionel Atwill .... Colonel Bishop
Basil Rathbone .... Levasseur
Ross Alexander .... Jeremy Pitt
Guy Kibbee .... Hagthorpe
Henry Stephenson .... Lord Willoughby
Robert Barrat .... Wolverstone
Hobart Cavanaugh .... Dr. Bronson
Donald Meek .... Dr. Whacker
Jessie Ralph .... Mrs. Barlowe
Forrester Harvey .... Honesty Nuttall
Frank McGlynn Sr. .... Rev. Ogle
Holmes Herbert .... Capt. Gardner
David Torrence .... Andrew Baynes
