Bette Davis filmography

The Little Foxes
Warner Brothers, 1941

Melodrama about a Southern family showing their greed, revolving around coming-of-age Alexandra Giddens played by Teresa Wright. Alexandra is torn between her manipulative mother and loving, father who is ill with heart disease. Final realization of Davis' cruelty forces her to leave. In one scene we are told the theme of this story where Marshall reads 'Little Foxes' text from the 'Song of Solomon'. Absorbing character studies and one of Bette's best. This film also has a strong supporting cast in Herbert Marshall and Dan Duryea. I think Bette looks wonderful in this film and she appears extremely confident of her acting abilities. Once again Bette was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal.
