Dan is very successful, loves Joan and is in a hopelessly unhappy marriage. Although Joan loves Dan, she meets and finds happiness with Peter Lapham, played by Henry Fonda, who loves her very much and can offer her everything she wants. She decides to marry him, but in the meantime, Dan has finally divorced his wife and asks her to come back to him. The story focuses on her conflict to choose which man to be with. In the end, the stable and quiet confidence of Peter wins out. Great Joan vehicle.
