For Me And My Gal, 1942 For the first time Berkeley served as director of a film for which he did not direct the dance numbers. Gene Kelly and Judy Garland are partners in romance an on the vaudeville stage. While this films contain no recognizable elements of the "Berkeley style" he often spoke highly of this film perhaps in order to prove his versatility and capability in handling straight comedy and drama.
