Olivia de Havilland

Olivia de Havilland was one of the premiere leading ladies of Hollywood’s Golden Age, and first became known for her roles as demure ingénues opposite cinema’s most popular male stars. The older sister and professional contemporary of actress Joan Fontaine, de Havilland began her career as a contract star for Warner Bros.

Olivia de Havilland is quoted as saying this about her early career:

Playing good girls in the 30’s was difficult, when the fad was to play bad girls. Actually I think playing bad girls is a bore; I have always had more luck with good girl roles because they require more from an actress. ~
